Shimotsuki - The eleventh month of the lunar calendar, which is around December. Literally translated as the frost month when the first frosts are beginning to show, the gods were said to be weakened at this time. Thus Shinto festivals called Kagura are held to ward off evil spirits or encourage and strengthen good ones. Traditional songs are performed with taiko drums, flutes and other classical instruments and the specifics of the dances and songs vary by locale. These traditions are practiced in advance and passed down primarily through oral tradition rather than in writing. Thus why it would be heard being practiced while walking through the village.
It is often an all night festival, with common customs include wearing Oni masks and spraying holy water.

Tags are one system to help navigate by. They're the most useful if you're keeping up with the latest releases. I've tagged each post with what's in it.
Shiki is broken down into parts called Books (the physical large books, two), Parts (about half a book a piece), Chapters (about ten per part), and sections (3-7ish per Chapter). Each 'section' is on a separate post. Cultural notes are compiled on Chapter posts.
There's also the Town and Character Map which has links to every chapter in which a character features, to help refresh your memory. But because there are so many characters, tags can be a touch cluttered per post.
This journal's profile is probably the best index if you're starting from the very beginning, at least until the entire work is complete at which point I'll have a master post. I have the first of two books compiled into an easy to navigate form. Clicking on the 'Chapter' will lead to the cultural notes, and at the top of the notes are also links to the #-# subsections. Most subsections are like a 5-10 minute read, so if the chapter has a lot of notes, keeping the chapter page open and reading the subsections in a new tab and then coming back to it might be easiest.
Maybe I'll compile it when I'm done but I'd need to really sit down and edit for typos, and decide what to do with the translation notes if putting it into one hard file.
Thank you
