On the thirtieth, Tanaka Sachiko was supported as she took her final breaths. The ones tending to her bedside were Kaori and her neighbor Ohtsuka Hiroko.

"It's going to be okay," Hiroko soothed Kaori. "You're welcome to stay at my place for a while. You'd feel too forlorn by yourself, wouldn't you?"

As she was soothed, Kaori nodded. But still, she thought absently. ---Next was her turn.

There was no doubt she couldn't escape no matter where she went. Megumi took away her father, took away her mother and Akira. The only one left was Kaori. So it was all but certain that she was next.


(Megumi....... But, why?)

She couldn't understand why. What Kaori did understand was that everything had been brought about by Megumi, and that it was obvious then that Megumi hated Kaori; that was all that was certain.

Kaori wasn't as dynamic as Natsuno and Akira. And even those two were no longer in this world. Perhaps there was no way for anyone to escape the fate that was coming for her shortly. She was so terrified she couldn't stand it and yet at the same time she realized a part of her thinking: if only it would hurry and be over. No matter how horrific an ending it was, it was sure to be immeasurably better than being trapped in this endless nightmare.

Really sad that Kaori is completely alone at this moment. She didn't deserve this.
