The more I read, the more pissed I am about what the manga and anime did to Megumi. She's still doing bad things here but there is absolutely no indication she enjoys it and gets any sadistic thrill out of it, she just comes off as angry and bitter, and overall more tragic. The manga and anime's choice to villify her far beyond the source material makes her whole tragic character arc and death fall much flatter than it should.
