The problem with not knowing it when translating it is more not knowing the terminology in English than not knowing the subject. Like I mentioned during the medical stuff, Japanese terms for illnesses and such are much more intuitive than in English where we use Greek and Latin. I know words that would work in English but also know there's more 'medical' sounding terms. There's also considering who's speaking; Japanese, like English, has many words that mean the same thing and it's a matter of characterization as to what words they use. Do you call the girl you dislike a bitch or a slattern, is the village loon derranged or fucked up? For casual discussions, I know English, I can put out a feel. For medical talk, I do at least work with many medical professionals enough to take a wild guess as to what they refer to things as in context (is he hemorrhaging or bleeding, doctor?) but on this, I need to consider what terms Seishin might use while also taking into account his speech style. My impression in Japanese was that it read like a textbook prattling on and that seems to be what you got from my translation, but is that because it's an infodump chapter and it's just written that way, is that because that's in Seishin's character , or is that because I'm not comfortable enough with the material to properly look past the first layer information into anything more subtle?

I mean, I'm okay with what I have enough to publish it on the web for now, it'll do in a pinch while I work on some other things, but that's not the standard I want to have for translating in general, and particularly not with Shiki.
