Oh, that's right! I remembered the lawn, but I guess my mind was unwilling to accept the fact that our officer could be so...unlawful.
We sorta talked about this before, but so far what's going on in the village is supposed to be a mystery, right? I'm trying to read without keeping in mind what I already know about it, and it seems pretty clear that whatever it is that's killing the villagers, Kanemasa is behind it (well, if it wasn't clear before, it'll definitely be clear after Takami isn't ever heard from again). Could someone put together the dots with (Creepy beautiful strangers) + ('Insect bites' on victims) + (anemia) = vampires? If I were reading it for the first time, I think I'd skip the vampire conclusion and guess that the Kanemasa are ghosts that don't actually exist in the physical world, which would explain why they are seen so rarely. Also, maybe the victims are sick because they get possessed by the ghosts and the strain is so much on their bodies that they die? So Nao is currently possessed? But that wouldn't explain how a ghost family bought a whole freakin' house, so... *throws hands up in defeat*
It's hard not to feel bad for Seishin at this point. To him, it probably looks as if it's a game to Toshio and he's looking down on Seishin because of his lack of medical knowledge (that's not what good friends do!) However, it doesn't seem like Toshio's being a dick on purpose, he probably is preoccupied enough and maybe wants to play around to take the stress off. But then I can kind of understand Ozaki too because out of the whole village, he is probably the best informed, and is trying to solve the puzzle using his superior knowledge when his Monk BFF (who doesn't have to put up with a nagging mother and annoying patients on a daily basis) comes sprouting ideas that seem totally irrelevant.
Maybe it's for the best that Megumi didn't get the autopsy--there's a real danger that Toshio would have performed it with his Chin-Scalpel...
